The Italian shipyard
Six generations of the Cranchi family have built motor yachts in Lombardy, from the first workshop on Lake Como to two plants in the Valtellina valley. Yacht Family Group is the exclusive Cranchi dealer in the CIS.
History

Giovanni Cranchi registers a wooden boat workshop on the shore of Lake Como. Cars have yet to take to the roads, and Cranchi boats are already on the water. The yard counts this as its founding year.
The founder's grandson, also Giovanni Cranchi, moves the workshop to Brienno on the same lake. The workshop grows into a shipyard.
Exactly a hundred years after the founding, Tullio Monzino becomes Aldo Cranchi's partner. The yard moves to the nearby Valtellina, and Aldo opens the first plant in Piantedo. Here he lays down the method Cranchi still uses to build its yachts.
Cranchi is the first in the industry to use a robot for gelcoat spraying. Today it is the only boatbuilder in the world where robots apply not only gelcoat but also the fibreglass.
For the anniversary, the yard brings Christian Grande's installation «Immersio Temporis» to Milan Design Week at Palazzo Clerici. More than 15,000 visitors and fourth place in the Fuorisalone Award.

The new A48 O/B wins the Design Innovation Award in the motorboats up to 14 m category.
Read the story →Today the yard is run by professional managers, while the two families, Cranchi and Monzino, remain the owners. Paola, Elena and Guido Cranchi and Franco Monzino are directly involved. Guido Cranchi is the CEO of Cranchi Yachts.
Metodo Piantedo
The method is named after the first plant and grew out of Aldo Cranchi's idea: in-line production, serious engineering and constant process improvement. Every operation is repeated the same way from hull to hull, so quality does not depend on where a yacht sits in the series.

Every part is designed in 3D. The yard sees the finished yacht and simulates her performance before building starts.

Robots apply gelcoat and fibreglass. Two robotic lines cut fabrics, carpet and insulation, and CNC machines shape the furniture and internal structures.

Hull, wiring, plumbing, furniture and finishing are all done in the yard's own plants. The yacht is checked at every stage, and final testing includes the test tank.
Shipyards
Craftspeople and robots work side by side. Cranchi builds yachts up to 25 metres, and all production stays in Italy.

Headquarters, the Centro Studi Ricerche research centre and the spare parts centre.

Rogolo, Lombardy
This is where the large yachts are built, from the A64 to the Settantotto 78.

Disegno Italiano
A yacht begins in the Centro Studi Ricerche, the yard's research centre: hull lines, volumes and layout. Every hull in the range is drawn by Aldo Cranchi.
The yard's art director is yacht and interior designer Christian Grande. His job is not just elegant lines but making the owner feel completely at home on board.
Every Cranchi yacht is conceived, designed and built in Italy, within a single production district in Lombardy.
The personalisation programme: hull colour, fabrics, finishes and upholstery, through to changes in layout and equipment. Options are worked out with the yard's designers and engineers. Cranchi was the first to let owners choose the hull colour, and today the Cranchi Colour Collection offers a dedicated palette.

The yard's own service centres, staffed by technicians trained at the factory. Cranchi Yachts Sardinia near Olbia: maintenance, refits, pre-delivery inspection and dry storage. Darsena Bellagio on Lake Como: the delivery centre and a 104-berth marina for yachts up to 70 feet.
